Can a family of 6 extend their stay in Thailand beyond 60 days during a visit in late August?

Ok guys! I've been reading and reading to avoid this post, but found great tickets and I need to jump on them! So. We are a nomadic family of 6. Kids (16, 10, 7, 3). We are in Vienna, Austria and will fly from Munich, Germany. Our first option is Aug 26th. The other two in early/mid Sept. We have a place to stay in Chaing Rai. We also have plans to meet people in Chaing Mai mid Oct AND again Nov 19-27th. Help! 😆🤔 If we fly Aug 26th can we stay through until end of November? Best plan of attack please and thank you!

edit Ok, Aug 26th doesn't quite stretch to where we need it to in Nov. If we leave after our 60 days for a week or two what's best? Fly back in on Visa exempt or come in from neighboring country? Is 60 day tourist still best in this scenario?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A family of six traveling to Thailand from Austria is considering the best visa options to stay until late November. The suggestion is to obtain a 60-day tourist visa upon entry, which can then be extended for an additional 30 days for 1,900 THB per adult. This option would allow them to stay up to 90 days without leaving the country. There's also a discussion about the possibility of a border run to obtain a new visa, but many believe that the convenience of extending the visa in Thailand outweighs potential savings from border runs. The family is looking for the best approach to maximize their stay.

Get the Single Entry Tourist Visa, on entering Thailand you all get 60 days of stay. At most Immigration Offices you can 30 days before till the last day stamped into the country apply for a 30 day Extension of Stay fro 1.900 Thb each. That gives you 90 days of stay, without leaving the country. The kids of 10, 7 and 3 will not be fined for overstay, but get the stamp in their passports, so you can even decide by yourself to pay 3 times 1.900 Thb for their Extension of get a stamp without fines.

My family of five is coming to Thailand from the US on a 60 day tourist visa and then we’re extending for another 30 for 1900 baht($57 USD each). So we’ll have 90 days total. We’re then doing a VISA run to Hong Kong in December for another tourist VISA. If you can swing it the tourist VISA is cheaper than coming in on a visa exempt status and extending for 30 days(only 60 days total).

60 day tourist visa then extend for an additional 30 should get you close to those November dates.

If you get a 60 day tourist visa from any Thai consulate or embassy you can extend that within the country for another 30 days, giving you 90 days in Thailand without having to leave the country for a new visa or stamp. Your end of november departure date would determine if it falls within that window, but it's highly likely and only a day or two over if you do leave the last day of november (not doing the math just glancing at the calendar).

Looks like if we count Aug 26th as night one it puts Nov 22 at the 89th night. Ugh.

My answer would be that the few dollars (or € £ ¥ or whatever) you might possibly save on a border run is outweighed by the easy and convince of not having to bounce over the border and go through the hassle. Other may have a different opinion. An extension is 1900 baht. Only you and your husband would have to do one. I could be wrong about your 16yo. But your younger ones are exempt from any punishment even though they overstay, so many times immigration doesn't even bother processing extensions and just had the parents stay current. (This is what I've read, I don't have kids so no first hand experience, just something to think about).

Ok. We are also on a tight budget, so don't mind Visa border runs if that's cheaper?
