Why is it so hard to believe that the floodgates have been opened? They need the people! Bangkok was the most visited city on the planet pre-covid. I guess they are not giving up this position easily?! Yes, they are stamping 5 year visas to anyone with 500k in the bank who has some interest in Thailand. This is their plan! This increases tourism numbers, the average length of stay, spending, and, once Thailand is number one again, prestige as well! I wish every country did the same. Hopefully this will shake up the competition in the region. Looking at you Malaya!
I'm in Thailand and I want to go to South Africa instead. For clean air, good weather, real scenery and endless adventures, not just mediocre beaches and malls like here. Genuinely interested why would SA folks prefer Thailand, if you don't mind sharing?
