Can I show cash in a brokerage account for my DTV application in the US?

Hi there,

This is a question for people who have applied for DTV in the US. Have any of you shown the cash needed ($15k USD) in a brokerage account? Not as stocks and investments. But the cash amount.

I have a high yielding brokerage account, so want to put the money there, just not sure if that will be alright.

If anyone has experience showing cash in their brokerage account, please let me know.

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about the acceptability of showing cash in a brokerage account as proof of funds for a DTV application in the US. Comments suggest mixed experiences: one person confirms that their Fidelity cash management account was accepted at the consulate, while others warn that only bank accounts are typically recognized, asserting that brokerage accounts are not accepted at all.

a interest bearing brokerage account is often considered a banking account by people. some even have debit cards attached to them. and i am looking for people with direct experience in the US.

Anonymous participant also, as a FYI, there are 4 consulates in the US and each has different requirements. Might want to ask for specific feedback for the consulate you will use.
