I came to Thailand in March 2020 as a tourist and accepted a job here. I'm still on a tourist visa and the job agency is saying that it will cost 17,000 BAHT to switch my tourist visa to a non B so that I can legally work. That's a lot of money for me and I've heard from other teachers in a similar situation being able to switch their tourist visa to a nonB for just 1900 baht. None of this makes sense... Why is my agency telling me I have to pay an extra 15100!!!! Can someone please enlighten me?
