I am arriving in Thailand on December 20. If I apply for an eVisa today or tomorrow, will I get it in time? If I apply but don't get it in time, can I still enter Thailand with a visa on arrival instead? (I'm a US citizen)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the timing of receiving an eVisa for Thailand before their arrival on December 20 and the possibility of entering Thailand using a visa on arrival if the eVisa is delayed. Community responses indicate that applying for an eVisa now could result in approval given the necessary documents are provided promptly. As a US citizen, the user also has the option of entering under visa-exempt status, receiving a 45-day stay, which can be extended for an additional 30 days at an immigration office.

It would depend on how exact documents you can provide if you can get your visa on time or not. It would take a specified time for your visa to be approved since you upload all necessary documents correctly.

You can enter Thailand on a visa-exempt scheme, but you may need an onward ticket within 45 days at most airlines for you to be able to check-in.

I received my Evisa in about 15 days from the Los Angeles consulate. Make sure you print it out and present it to the immigration officer when you land in Bangkok so they put the proper date in your passport.

YES most likely you will get your Evisa on-line if you apply now and have the requirements needed to complete the application. = 90 day stay in Thailand.

OR as an American, you can enter Visa Exempt status. That gives you a 45 days stamp on arrival plus one 30 Days extension of stay at the Thai immigration office for 1900 Thai baht = 75 day stay in Thailand.

You can enter with the 45 day visa exempt stamp. Which can be extended for a further 30 days at an immigration office.
