Hey guys! I've got a quick specific question about VISA.

I am an American here on 30 day exemption. I extended 30 days, and again 7 days.

I have to travel by flight for business (my VISA is stamped Jun 2)

Two things.

If i fly out on Monday, am i considered overstaying my VISA (June 2nd is a Saturday) because my VISA date falls on a weekend.

Second, i plan to return to Thailand after 7-10 days business trip overseas. Am i am going to experience any issues entering Thailand at that time + am i able to extend for 30 more days after that time.

Thanks!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
An American expat on a 30-day visa exemption extended twice (for a total of 67 days) inquired if flying out of Thailand on June 4th would constitute an overstay since his visa stamp expires on June 2nd (a Saturday). The response clarified that while he could not overstay by simply leaving on June 4th, doing so would incur a 1000 baht fine for overstaying two days. Additionally, it was confirmed that upon returning to Thailand, he could apply for another 30-day extension, as overstaying does not affect re-entry under visa exemption.

To continue that further, my business trip has been delayed, but i still need to make a VISA run. Based on these details, and leaving tomorrow (short notice) can anyone recommend the best way to go about leaving and coming back for an additional 30 days. I heard that you had to leave by plane, is that correct??

how about stating where you are in thailand? That makes a difference as far as what border is closest to bounce to

Okay Great! Could you recommend the best border bounce option? (I've never done a border-bounce before. I've only arrived on a 30 day exempt, and then visited the immigration office for an additional 30 days, and then a 7 days to leave the country.

you can get TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land in a calendar year so if you haven't done that yet this year you could border-bounce at a land crossing and get a 30 day visa exempt entry.

Ah, that's great. Thanks for the information!

I think the 2nd one is refused extension and 7 days to leave the country.- am I right!?

You have to check everything, the Bank book, the bill and of course all your visa stamps.... Not only in LoS. ๐Ÿ˜Š

@Be***
, you are 100% correct, those 7 days to get out are "application for extension denied" stamps. But most people never bother to look at the stamp and think it's a 7 day extension. ;)

you are confusing a couple things :/ IF you stamp expires on a weekend you can go to the immigration office the next day they're open (monday) and get an extension without being fined for overstay

BUT

borders don't close for weekends or holidays, SO if you stamp out of the country on the 4th you're going to pay 1000baht in overstay fines (two days).

It will not affect you coming back into the country on another visa exempt entry or getting an extension, BUT you need to know, overstaying is against the law, and it should be avoided.
