Will I face problems with my visa extension after separating from my spouse in Thailand?

Hey all, sorry I’m posting again but I’m freaking out a little bit.

I’m on a spouse visa extension (husband is a foreigner employed here) and we might seperate.

Assuming he still keeps his extension and I leave without canceling mine (because of lack of corporation from him-can’t get a letter from his employee etc)

Once I come back on my own (later on) on a new visa and ask for extension, will I have any issues other than a fine for not canceling the old one? I don’t mind paying as long as I can stay long term.

I didn’t clarify last time that I might not get any supporting documents from his employers.

Thank you so much. Last post I promise haha

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about the implications of separating from their spouse while on a spouse visa extension in Thailand. They are unsure about the consequences of leaving the country without formally canceling the visa and returning later on a new visa. Comments suggest that while fines might be expected, there may not be significant issues regarding the extension as long as the next visa is applied for properly.

I was at that visa before. And they told me I don't need to cancel it. Just leave the country

Extension based on having working spouse

@Ručman **********
The STM 2 form that you sign would think different?

Not on a visa, on an extension.

Your next extension (whenever that is), there is a very good chance you will be fined. However,you said you don't mind that.

@Lloyd *******
fined for what?
Lloyd ********
@Frank ****
You get fined for not informing immigration of a change in status

@Lloyd *******
did the person leave the country while visa was still in effect? if so, I don't think there is any violation or potential fine. but maybe I am not clear on the details?
Lloyd ********
@Frank ****
STM2 is the form you sign

@Frank ****
Leaving the country has nothing to do with it, it is all about informing immigration if your status (for which you were issued the extension) changes. If she were on a visa, then that would be totally different, but she is not.

yes, aslong as they give me a new extension I don’t mind being fined. But will it be ok if I don’t have any documents from that old extension?
Lloyd ********
Ok, what visa will you be coming back on ?

not sure, but I would like to go back to live in Thailand- possibly a work visa for teaching or dtv 🙏🏼

you won't have any issue at all getting in free stamp if you're out of the country when your current trailing spouse extension runs out

They won't say anything to you at passport control.

thank you tod 🙏🏼here’s the situation I’m worried about:

Me going back to Thailand long term on a work visa (or DTV), wishing to extend for a year, while having an old trailing spouse extension that wasn’t cancelled properly.

At the same time, my spouse (separated) would still be working in Thailand.. so I won’t have any cancellation documents from him

Sorry if it’s too complicated..

again I don’t mind a fine. As long as they’ll let me live in Thailand long term. thank u🙏🏼

@Ella ****
you aren't gonna extend a DTV for a year, you can only get ONE 180 day extension each entry if you want and most people just bounce out/back instead to get a new 180 day entry stamp rather than jump thru the hoops to get the extension

As far as if you come in, get a Non-B and work here, then go to extend you can deal with that when it happens. It's not like you can do anything about it now
