TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about renewing their Belgium passport, as they will need to submit their old passport containing Non-O visa stamps. The thread discusses whether this will cause issues upon arriving in Bangkok with a new passport without the stamps. Responses suggest that it is typically not a problem to keep the old passport, as authorities clip the corners to show it is invalid but allow you to retain it. It is recommended to carry both the old and new passports when transferring the visa in Thailand.

Fyi... Ik heb thuis een verzameling van 8 paspoorten 😅

They don't take your current passport. They cut the corners to indicate its invalid but you keep it. Then you go with both passports to immigration to move visa. I am belgian too and I have done this in thailand.

Get new your passport in Thailand from your consulate then take it to immigration to transfer the visa its free .

Save you lots of hassle coming back with the passport without the stamps .

Usually countries don’t keep old passports, but just clip the corner or similar to show it’s been cancelled.

France does collect and keep old passports, unless there is an active/valid visa in the old passport
