Hi, so I have been on an education visa for the last 10 months in Thailand. I went to Melasia for a week or so and now I want to come back to Thailand as a tourist. I have a tourist E-Visa already approved however I heard they can still turn you down at the airport especially recently with the crackdowns. Because I have been living in Thailand the last 10 months and only been out for a week and a half will they turn down my tourist visa? I basically want to know if it's worth paying extra money for an agency to take me through immigration (I know they work as my friend has used them alot to bypass things, but they are expensive). Do I pay the extra money to increase my chances or is my online e-visa enough?
Because I left Thailand without a re-entry permit, my education visa is automatically void even though it was meant to last until 20th December.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses concerns about returning to Thailand on a tourist e-visa after being on an education visa for 10 months and traveling abroad without a re-entry permit. The original author is wary of potential entry issues due to recent immigration crackdown policies and considers hiring an agency for assistance at the airport. Comments provide additional context, including visa status clarifications and anecdotal experiences that highlight the importance of understanding visa conditions and risks associated with leaving Thailand on a specific visa.
My school in Thailand messaged all students to advise not leaving Thailand during the year of study as more and more reports of being denied entry even with the valid ED visa and re-entry visa have been coming in. When on an ED visa you are supposed to remain in the country for the full duration, but previously re-entry visas have worked without problem.
I had a similar situation, I was on one for the same amount of time. I decided to go to Nepal for 5 months and then Taiwan to apply for a DTV. It would be interesting to find out the answer.
I suspect you are not on a visa at all but rather you are on an extension of stay, take a look in your passport and check. If you are on an extension of stay it is not void because you travelled out of Thailand, you need to get paperwork from the school you studied at and go and cancel it at the relevant immigration office in Thailand. It shouldn't stop you entering but can be a real issue going forward
