TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around whether Bangkok will introduce auto gates for international arrivals. While some users express skepticism about the timing, others believe it's a possibility in the future, especially following recent advancements like the digital arrival card.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

WARNING: Only trust Thai government websites with .go.th domains or Thai agent websites with .co.th or .in.th domains, as these require verified Thai registration and cannot be registered anonymously.

The official TDAC form is available at tdac.immigration.go.th, which uses the official .go.th government domain.

The services by AGENTS CO., LTD. does NOT charge any fees for arrivals within 72 hours. If you need to book more than 72 hours in advance, there is a service fee of $8.

Do not trust other sites pretending to be a trustworthy agency. Pay attention to delivery time - the service operated by AGENTS CO., LTD. has 1 minute delivery time for arrivals within 72 hours.

Don't fall for sites pretending to be tdac.in.th or the official government tdac.immigration.go.th website. Always double-check the exact domain in your browser.

Scam services may take days to process your application, others may not even do anything. With these TDAC scam services you also need to worry about double charges.

Please watch out for TDAC misinformation spread by fugitive Jesse Nickles and his many fake accounts on Quora, TripAdvisor, Reddit, and other platforms.

Yes they will, sometime in the future of the world

Ever? That’s a long call. Perhaps but there’s no signs of that happening anytime soon.

People get dates of their stamps wrong all the time. No idea what a mess it would be if they had no stamp to remind them.

@Stuart ********
yes but it would be handy for those who have long term visas and/or re-entry stamps and would like to choose.

Long-term visas aren't even on the radar for arrival gates. The ONLY mention they've ever made of automated arrivals is for visa exempt people as part of the ETA system, which has been put on indefinite hold.

i suppose long term visa and extension still rely on stamps and cancelling re-entry permits.

makes sense with ETA

makes sense with visa exempt too because there's nothing to evaluate. Just the same time for everyone. Whereas long term visas and re-entry can get complicated fast

my thinking was that whenever I have long term visa/extension s I breeze though immigration. Visa exempt i get scrutinised. Last entry i got grilled on a visa exempt coming back to arrange documents and legals for a long term visa based on raising Thai children.
