Why is the visa photo request being rejected despite using a professional photo?

Hi. I got this new photograph request for the second time already. Both of the previous photos were taken in a professional studio and are super clear. Any ideas what the problem might be? And what do they mean by "a new one with a mobile camera on person?" Has anyone ever had the same problem?🙏 It’s in Vientiane, Laos.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing issues with visa photo acceptance in Vientiane, Laos, despite submitting professionally taken images. The community suggests that the authorities may require a recent selfie with a specific format, likely emphasizing a white background and natural lighting. Various commenters shared their experiences, indicating that the photo's size, resolution, or format could be reasons for rejection. Some recommend using smartphone apps for compliance and suggest ensuring the photo matches the style of previously accepted images.

Did you use a digital photo, or did you scan a printed one? I would be more worried about their second point about your biodata / passport picture not being "clear".

well, the picture of passport is also clear enough, I was using it for my previous ED visa, absolutely no problem. The only thing it’s not a scan but a photo taken by phone. But this time I went to the shop and asked them to scan it with the best quality and resolution they can. Not sure if it can be more clear than it’s already now…🙂 Should work🙏

How hard can it be to produce a good quality high resolution passport style photo, as well as a clear photo of your passport biodata page?

I had issues with photos getting compressed to unreadability when I saved them as pdf in a wordprocessor.

If that is the problem, its better to "print to pdf" (ctrl+p on windows, chose print to pdf in the drop down), and if you need to combine several of these into one file, there are services online that does it for free.

May be your picture was edited too much

That’s why click a normal photo with your phone, crop it in the size and send it.

Why don't you use an app that helps you take a perfect "passport photo" meeting all requirements - most countries have pretty darn close requirements except for size. I avoided all the trouble by using a photo that had already been used for past visa apps and passed

Anonymous participant no app. Regular iPhone camera. Make it look similar to your store photo. Clean white background. No expression, no graphics showing on your shirt.

I sent them a nice photo and I got asked for a selfie, I sent an (awful) selfie thinking they were checking it against my photo but they put the bloody selfie on my visa. 5 years of looking like a troll 😆👌🏼

Maybe they want you to hold a phone in your hands so they know it’s a newly taken picture (?)
