TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the differences between the METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) and the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa). The METV allows for a stay of up to 180 days with a requirement to exit the country every 90 days, while the DTV offers a longer-term option (5 years) with a requirement to leave every 6 months. Users highlight that people often prefer the DTV for its longevity, benefits such as easier banking, and fewer exits required, making it more convenient for longer stays.

They're totally different visas: different requirements, different length, different price, etc.

What is the difference between a holiday, meaning no working and enjoy a new culture
and working, meaning sitting hours behind a computer to gain income.

The METV is ideal for those wishing a stay of up to 180 days. The requirements are quite simple and obtainable. If one is looking for a friction-free visa allowing them to travel the region while based in Thailand it's ideal. I come to Thailand for 4-5 months annually and it suits me perfectly.

METV is a 6 month visa that you have to depart every 90 days..you can get a total of 9 months out of it with a strategic last 2 day visa run
DTV is a 5 year visa where you have to depart country every 6 months
You can get extensions on both visas in country but it’s just way easier to do a border bounce, border run, microcation, minication or long vacation to reset the visa for its next duration of time
People usually opt for the DTV due to the longevity of the visa
The 5 year Elite visa costs more but you get way more benefits in country like opening a bank acct and once per year departure
