Which city has faster visa processing in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi?
Hi everyone I plan to apply for my visa in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday November 10 but I’m hearing the wait is long right now so I’m considering Hanoi instead If you’re in Vietnam which city is faster these days and any recent wait times or tips
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around the best city in Vietnam for expats to apply for their visa, with a specific focus on Ho Chi Minh City (HCM) and Hanoi. One user reported a lengthy process with HCM but noted that Hanoi has a reputation for faster processing. Another user suggested getting help from an agency for a quicker DTV visa process that took only 7 days. Overall, it seems that the choice of city may depend on both processing speed and personal circumstances like accommodation costs.

I applied on 27 October and provided additional information on the 28th as requested by HCM on the same day. I emailed the embassy on 4 November, and later that day the status changed from ‘pending document check’ to ‘pending approval.’ I’m still waiting for HCM’s decision. I’ve read that Hanoi processes faster too, but since accommodation costs are high there this year, I chose to stay in Da Nang, which means my application must go through HCM.
