I was rejected in Hanoi when I applied for the DTV under the cooking category. Do you think it would be worth trying again in Ho Chi Minh City with better-prepared documents? Or would it likely be the same situation?
Answer summary
The individual is contemplating whether to reapply for a DTV visa in Ho Chi Minh City after facing rejection in Hanoi under the cooking category. Comments suggest that while trying again might be worthwhile, a focus on understanding the reasons for the initial rejection is crucial. Strengthening financial documentation and ensuring that the cooking activity is well-documented are emphasized as important steps. Some users recommend considering applying in neighboring Laos for potentially better chances.

It may be worth trying again, but I’d focus more on understanding why the Hanoi application was rejected than simply changing consulates. A new application with essentially the same evidence could run into the same issue.

If you reapply, I’d make sure the cooking activity is clearly documented and that the supporting evidence matches the DTV category you’re applying under. Requirements and how evidence is assessed can also vary between embassies/consulates, so check the current requirements for Ho Chi Minh City before submitting.

Best for soft power course 6 or 9 months with strong documents and schedule of course is 50% + your financial stability proof of funds 50% of success

Last year, my DTV application in Hanoi was rejected. It was for a 12-month course at Arun Thai Cooking School, but I believe the classes were held only a few times each week.

If I apply again in Ho Chi Minh City with a cooking school that has classes much more frequently every week, do you think my application would still be rejected?

CaringKangaroo1044 go HCMC give it a try if your viet visa still valid. don't waste for it if just time & money matter. 😅 at least if Lao reject again unluckily, don't wanna go to VN once again.

CaringKangaroo1044 one year course requirements more money to show and remote income to show, more longer period of stay more money need to show more legal income to proof. That is why Hanoi often rejects if 12 months courses soft power. Main is financial stability they want to make sure your money legally earned and you are financial stable to supporting 1 year all expenses without taking illegal local jobs under dtv visa.

Interesting. Are you able to share reports from people about this? I’ve searched the different groups and can’t find more information. I’m not saying I don’t believe you, I’m just looking for more information. I’ll be applying with over 2x the minimum amount required in the bank, but I’ll also have a teenage dependent with me - and will be attending (yes, actually attending…unlike some people 😒) 12 month cooking

CaringKangaroo1044 Hanoi you submit all in one time they don't like sending requests, Ho Chi Minh you don't submit all in one time they have system step by step.

Alex Ni So you’re saying it’s worth trying again in Ho Chi Minh City if I strengthen my supporting documents and financial evidence, right? I’ve also prepared my tax payment certificate for this year. I didn’t include it in my application last year.
