Hanoi DTV question + advice

I have decided to go to Hanoi to apply for my DTV visa.

As there is no accurate way of telling how long it will take to approve the visa, is it acceptable to arrive in Vietnam on a one way ticket and will the Thai Embassy look for a confirmed flight to Thailand.

Changing ticket dates with Air Asia is impossible.

I am not that great ( understatement ) with stuff like changing documents to PDF, compressing them ... Etc, can anyone recommend an Agent or someone / somewhere in Hanoi who knows what the Embassy requires and can upload what's needed correctly.

Can anyone recommend from their experience a decent place ( budget ) to stay in Hanoi. I know that booking.com has lots but looking for a personal recommendation.

Thanks

If you don't want to book AirAsia because you think you can't change or cancel the ticket without a refund or fees, then why don't you book a different airline with a fully refundable ticket? Almost every country requires an onward ticket even if the immigration officer doesn't check for it most of the time. But you will have a problem if by chance they do ask you for it and you don't have it. Simply book a fully refundable ticket, carry a copy of it through immigration, and then if you don't want to use the ticket, cancel it for a full refund.

It takes 2-4 weeks after submission. Applying in April will take longer because there are many Thai public holidays which Thai embassies in Hanoi will closed for several days

I use Air Asia, one can change flight dates around. So many in this group recommend Ilovepdf. One can merge docs, separate pdf into docs again, rearrange orders within a pdf and much more. A very easy and handy one click tool.

I stayed at Fraser Suites while waiting for DTV processing - it was fine - restaurant, connected to a small mall, pool, gym and for the weekend easy to get into center of town - they also run a shuttle if it works for your schedule

Issa Compass seemed to do well in Hanoi. They also offered a money back guarantee and the fees were not high compared to others.

i would have loved to use them, honestly, but they take a week to reply to my questions and if i am in Hanoi I cannot afford to be waiting this amount of time should I have an issue with the application.

ExcitingPomelo9368 OK - I have no current information about them. Maybe they are overwhelmed and cannot scale. If you do use an agent though try and use a credible one. Many on here who say "DM Me" I would not trust to run my bath 🙂 Good luckj and hope it works out for you. Once you have the DTV you can relax

I was just looking on Agoda for serviced apartments in Hanoi and found several around the lake that looked nice and were reasonably priced!

Anyone know whether i will need to have a ticket to Thailand when applying in Hanoi. I am planning on buying a one way from bkk as return date is dependant on when my visa us issued. Difficult if not impossible to change an air Asia ticket

Chatgpt helped me organize my documents and had a lot of useful tips. Also ctrl+p makes a pdf. Put all your docs in pdfs, then find an open source pdf merger on line. Don't forget to use a cover letter.
