TLDR : Answer Summary
A user from the Philippines inquired about the best airport to fly to Bangkok or Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand, to avail of visa exemption. The comments highlighted the importance of holding a return ticket and possibly being required to show proof of funds (approximately 20,000 baht). There were discussions about the financial proof requirements imposed by the Philippine government and the necessity to have all documents ready before departure to avoid issues at the Manila Airport.

The financial requirements only apply to Fillipino citizens applying for a visa to visit Thailand. If your coming in visa exempt just a return ticket and you maybe asked to show 20,000 baht or the equivalent in cash to Thai immigration. Be sure to have it on you. You MUST have a return or onward ticket as it's highly likely you won't be boarded in Manila with no onward or return ticket.

Hi, some ph immigration will ask for return ticket, hotel booking and proof of funds if leaving the philippines as a tourist, if alone and it's your 1st time to travel internationally.. Just be ready to answer with confidence, so ph i.o. will let you fly..we call it offload passenger..

My cousin experienced it..ph i.o. asked if she is employed and asked to show her company id..

If you have proof of a return ticket and you are a Philippines citizens then you will be able to pass Philippinen Immigration at the Manila Airport

(I know from what I speak we just came through there in October my Filipino friend had to buy a return ticket on the spot luckily we had data connection and did plus we made our flight)

A shout out to Cebu Air for their direct flights to Siem Reap.

If a way is found to bypass this restriction by using one airline or gate or a other doesn't mean the restriction doesn't exist.

The Phillipine Immigration authority by requiring a Return to the Philippines Air to ticket to let the person pass is enforcement of exactly what I am talking about. I do not know of any other country that has such a requirement on their own citizens leaving the country. And as said (if one Googles) the reason for this is based on numerous stories where the Phillipine Government had to assist women who went abroad to work as maids and nannies - who were then kept as a captive by the employer. These people had to plead with family to buy return tickets and to the Philippine Government to issue travel documents as the employer stole their passports This happened even to people who went to other SEA countries. But one has to read the news in their lives to know that theses things happen.

If anyone doubts it then Google is your friend

In the past and perhaps even now the foreign Embassies in Manila had to comply with a Philippine Government order to check financial proof

Note: The restrictions I speak of were instituted by the Philippine Government to protect mostly women who were being lured into jobs in the middle east and were kept there as virtual slaves and their passports taken from them. But theses 'protections' have been applied broadly in some cases

thank you for that information.. ๐Ÿ‘

The Philippine Governent has restrictions on citizens flying out of the country - especially alone. And may demand proof of financial ability to afford a ticket back home. I know of instances where Philippine citizens were denied visas to go to Thailand by the Philippine government. I suggest you to check this out before buying airline tickets

DMK is for low cost airlines while BKK is for regular airlines...I guess it depends on how much you want to spend on a ticket...
