TLDR : Answer Summary
The tests for travelers arriving in Phuket are conducted at two locations: at the airport upon arrival and at designated test centers on the island. It's essential to book the tests separately from hotel packages, as guests may need to stay in a hotel until they receive their test results. This has led to confusion among travelers about the necessity of hotel stays and additional costs, especially if they have arranged private accommodations.

I thought so to, was wondering why we have to pay for a hotel the 5th day test when you have to pay go to a test centre then after the test pay again to go to a hotel and stay in a room until you get your results. We have a private villa in Phuket

Yes for Phuket you book test seperately from hotel package

One is at airport upon arrival and one is at one of the test centers on the island.

good to know . So why do you have to book one of the special hotels then? Just pondering

because it has all the health protocols in place required by the goverment, the staff are vaccinated.

Phuket was set up for sandbox only and airport testing was introduced.

They say to many arrivals in Bangkok to do it that way but many other countries can organise it, but it is what it is.

I would like to know to, I was only saying yesterday I wonder how many people won’t go back to the hotel afterwards

Part of the sandbox package is special transport from airport to your hotel. Try getting out of the airport without your transport, also if you dont turn up at your hotel it will not be long before the police come looking for you.

lots avoided before which is why they have introduced stricter rules for day 5.

As you have a villa in phuket you are probably aware of the phuket news website just go search on there and have a look on the stories of Police searching for people who havent correctly done day 5

yes i have done 4 quarantines and one sandbox and i have 3 places in Thailand. It is what it is. You only got to book two hotel days.

Before could go take second test and head back home but was chaos at Central Floresta. They alloted same time to hundreds of people... A lot of people "forgot" to follow the law as well and didn't go for their 2nd test.
