I sent below to KLM who said it’s correct,as you can see it’s different to what I expected ie result 72 hours before departure.

Anyone flown klm and had experience please ?

Thanks very much

If you have a transfer in Amsterdam, you only need 1 NAAT (PCR) test result that's taken within 72 hours before arrival in Amsterdam “

This is from your website I am flying with you from Bangkok to the UK on Tuesday

I just transfer in Amsterdam to Birmingham are you sure the above is correct ?

I have always been told the test is that the result must be 72 hours before I board my first flight.

Therefore the above is different and may make it more difficult to get a COVID test for the right time in Thailand.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A traveler raised concerns about KLM’s COVID testing requirement for their flight from Bangkok to the UK via Amsterdam. They mentioned KLM's note that only one PCR test is needed within 72 hours before arrival in Amsterdam, which differs from their understanding that the test should be done 72 hours before the first flight. Responses clarified that for UK entry, the traveler needs a negative test result taken within 72 hours of the first international flight and KLM’s instructions for transit through Amsterdam are accurate.

Even transfers through many cities need a test just to transit. You have to fulfil the requirements of your country of final destination, your country of transit and (in some cases) of the individual airlines.

In your case, for entry into the UK you need any type of test with negative result within 72 hours of your 1st international flight. For transit through AMS, KLM are correct.

I understand that but it’s the difference between departure and arrival I’m querying as my post.

Thanks

yes, and that IS the requirement. A pain in the proverbial, I know.
