When should I apply for the Non-Imm O visa after returning to Thailand?

Hi, and tia,

I have booked my flight to return to Bangkok on the 20th January 2023. I have previously had Non-Imm O having lived in Thailand over a period of years. Now I am returning after an absence of 20 months, not being in my own country of Australia, but being elswhere.

I do intend to apply for the Non-Imm O again having the 800K in the bank. Does it still need to be in the bank for 4 months before applying?

So, arriving on the 20th Jan. and receiving 45 days, then most likely doing a return flight to Hong and back before the end of March to receive another 45 days, my main question is; when is the best time to begin the application for the Non-Imm O, during my two 45 day visas or after the 800K has been in the bank for 4 months, which will be around mid April?

Can it be done online at eVisa or do I need to go to CW?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to return to Thailand and is seeking advice on applying for the Non-Imm O visa after being away for 20 months. They inquire about the need for 800K Thai baht to be in their bank account for 4 months prior to application. Responses suggest that the 800K only needs to be in the account for 2 months before applying, and they should apply for the visa soon after their return, rather than waiting.

Do you still have the 800,000 Thai baht on deposit in a Thai bank account in your name only?

Last year in February 2021 you did, and you obtained the One extension of stay as retired from the Hua Hin Thai Immigration office.

If it's still on Deposit, make application for Non O Visa and one year extension of stay soon after your return to Thailand. NO need to wait two months to apply.

No, I only had a couple of hundred thousand there, but am now topping it up to the 800K. Not sure if I will stay in BKK where most of my time in TH has been spent, or go elsewhere. I will decide in the coming months. Thanks James.

John may I suggest you keep it Simple...on arrival into Thailand you will be stamped in for 45 days plus gets you one 30 day extension of stay at Thai immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

Once you are in Thailand, visit your local Thai immigration office and pick up the list of requirements for the Non O Visa as retiree and the One year extension of stay as retired.

Apply to obtain the Non O Visa as retiree... the REQUIRED 800,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account in your name only needs to be from international transfer of funds and must be in the bank account for 2 full months PRIOR to your application for the Non O Visa.

Then get a Re-entry permit.. single or multiply.. for your PLANNED travels.

Be aware that Hong Kong has proven to be problematic for travel due to COVID. Be sure you are able to enter and depart HK as planned.

Hope all goes well for you and yours in your return to Thailand.

Thanks James, I can always forego HK, go to VN instead, or just stay in Th. Once I start the process I presume it will all be done within the 45+30 days.

Yes you can do it within the 45 Visa exempt entry+ 30 Days extension of yourself..= 75 Days.

AND land border crossing entries are open... except Myanmar land borders are CLOSED. Making it easier to get a NEW 45 days stamp plus One 30 day Extension.
