Scenario: Stuck here currently (on visa amnesty) since Myanmar border closed. Baby about to be born there, anxious obviously to be part of that as soon as it’ll be possible.

Would like to avoid the mayhem that might come when the amnesty ends with people frantic about trying to leave.

Currently the only options are travel to various semi-open countries, hope For the best. Or ideally stay here till Myanmar re-opens. Would there be any visa options for the latter? Creative or otherwise? Assuming no shortage of funds, would like to have some options for not having to stress over air travel and COVID issues in some random other country.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The author is currently on a visa amnesty in Thailand due to the closed Myanmar border and is seeking advice on visa options to avoid the chaos when the amnesty ends. Comments suggest that waiting it out may be wise, and options like the Thai Elite Visa could provide a viable solution without leaving the country. Concerns about future entry requirements and the potential for crowded repatriation efforts are also discussed.

a Zillion people trying to get out at the last minute.

As I remember there where about 500.000 tourist stuck in Thailand but with nearly 3 month of repatriating flights, it must be less.

So do not get over excited, and please try to understand this:

Before this so called amnesty ends there will be a transition period announced for all people to get a new valid visa or Admitted to Stay.

It is not, 31 July 2020 is the last day announced, you all have to leave on 1 Aug between 0600 and 0604 in the morning.

We are here waiting to go back to Myanmar too. Do you have a FRC? Or a job waiting for you? It's my understanding, people who work there, diplomats and the like will be priority once the border opens. Fingers crossed for 1 July.

First you have no idea what the actual entry requirements might be once they decide to re-open the country to 'regular foreigners' so going to another country and hoping for the best to me is a total fail.

Sit out the amnesty, see what happens in the 6 weeks that's left on it. Decide then.

You said you've no shortage of funds, so you could get the 5 year thai elite visa for 500K baht and not have to leave the country to get it

Other than that, you wait it out like everyone else :(

Yup. Two issues with it all is 1) “wait and see” is less tempting considering that’s what everybody is doing - which will be no fun if the end result is the usual government shrug and then a zillion people trying to get out at the last minute. Less of a fan of doing stuff like ”everybody else”, which usually isn’t all that great. Elite visa, considered it but that looks questionable for future use. Travel bubbles and no “free movement”, etc, less worth 500k to me. Now with all this talk about wanting “wealthy tourists”, would be handy to have actual worthwhile options.
