What visa options are available for Ethiopian passport holders for a long stay in Thailand?
Is there any visa that Ethiopian passport holders can get for a 6 month or 1 year stay?
The language school I spoke with in Hua Hin said immigration excludes Ethiopian nationals from that visa.

Answer summary
Ethiopian passport holders exploring long-term stays in Thailand face specific challenges. A comment suggests obtaining a 6-month Multi-Entry Tourist Visa (METV) from a Thai consulate, allowing multiple 60-day entries during its validity. Additionally, it's advised to consult the Thai Embassy in Nairobi for guidance, as they serve Ethiopian nationals, and they also mention the 15-day Visa on Arrival (VOA) as a potential option.

They could apply for a 6 month METV <- multi-entry tourist visa, from the thai consulate in their country before they wing their way here. That will give them unlimited 60 day entries during the 6 months the visa is valid for. They could get close to 9 months stay in country (in 60-90 day increments) out of that visa

they could come in get the 60 day stamp, then take the 30 day extension at the immigration office, after that they'd have to exit/re-enter to get a new 60 day entry, take the 30 day extension, etc
for the validity of the visa
for the validity of the visa

Go outside Thailand and use this website to apply for the correct visa for your stay,
it does work if you enter Ethiopia as passport country

Suggest you contact...the Thai Embassy in Nairobi which is the contact for Ethiopian passport holders.
Their website refers to the 15 day VOA Visa on Arrival.

I researched the question on the internet and do NOT find any other Thai Visa availability other than that of the 15 day VOA Visa on Arrival.

is a VERY good start. Good Luck 🍀James ********
Suggest you use the Thai Evisa online application system to apply for a Thai Visa... IF you are eligible for a Thai Visa, the system will allow you to make the application online. Or may ok only give you information about the VOA Visa on Arrival.
