Hello! My husband and I will be visiting Thailand for 3 months starting January. Just wondering what vaccines, if any, you would recommend? Hepatitis A, Japanese Encephalitis, Rabies or?? We will be travelling to different areas of the country. Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
When traveling to Thailand for three months, it's advisable to consider vaccinations such as Hepatitis A and Typhoid, as these are generally recommended for travelers. Japanese Encephalitis is mentioned but is typically suggested only for those planning to spend time in rural areas or jungles. Rabies vaccination is not necessary unless you will be in areas with high exposure to animals. It's always best to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice, especially about vaccine availability and schedules.

No point in getting rabies shot unless you are going to spend long periods of time in the jungle. If you get bitten you have to go to hospital anyway and the vaccine only gives you more time to get there.

Just the shots that Kill Bates recommends.

No special vaccines for Thailand are recommended.

None:::

34 years here and only shots i have had are 3 for covid
Richard ******
Hep a and b, typhoid, and flu shot.
Jessica ******
None. Wear some deet if you plan on going into the jungle.

I’ve been travelling to Thailand for years, now I live here.

The only shots I ever have/had are the typhoid and hepatitis A.

I wouldn’t worry about the others unless you plan on spending a lot of time in the jungle.

When I was living in the San Francisco Bay Area there was a company whose sole business was giving vaccines for travel. You might want to do a Google search in your area for something similar. They knew the recommended vaccines for any destination and you could pick & choose what you wanted.

Start early because some vaccines need multiple doses space apart

Just ask doctor for knowledgable advice.
Lynnette *******
Ask your doctor. But explain you're not planing on jungle treks. Heps a good one to consider but my doctor gave me first vaccination and then refused to finish the course off.

Hepatitis should be something you get anyways, not just because of Thailand. I would recommend Japanese Encephalitis but not to get it before you travel to Thailand. You can get it here for like $20-30. The price I found in the US was around $800.
