I set my appointment at Vientiane consulate and it shows 9am-12pm, but what time should I actually show up?

Last time, before the appointment system, i arrived at 7:30am and I was number 301! That then determined my pickup time the next day.

Is the new system more efficient, allowing me to arrive at 9 or 10, or is it essentially still first come first serve meaning I had better get in line early if I want to pick up early the next day and make the flight out that night?

My #1 goal is to make the 7pm Nok air flight from Udon Thani that same day, which requires a reasonable pickup time.

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The appointment at the Vientiane consulate is scheduled for 9am-12pm, but it's advisable to arrive earlier, around 8:30am, to ensure you are among the first to enter. This is because, although the new appointment system is in place, people still need to queue by their appointment number for document checks. Arriving early can help you secure a good position, especially since you need to catch a 7pm flight from Udon Thani. Be aware that after your appointment, you will need to return the following day to pick up your passport.

Even you have a high queue number I suggest you to go before it opens so around 8.30 so then at 9 when you will go in you can go ahead because if there are no people in front you can pass. But on the same day you cannot have back the passport. They return it back to you the day after

They open the gate at 9.00 am. Let you enter only with your appointment slip but without any order. They note your number. Then they let people in to the "documents checking checkpoint" every 20 numbers so 0-20 then 21-40 ... And so on. You use the same number to queue the next day to pick up your passport.

sometimes in real life, flights delayed, taxi got a flat tire or other things happen. If you like to apply plan to be in time, but if late, report yourself directly otherwise you get banned from the appointment system for a while.

At Udon Airport, there is a public transportation , van service at 200 baht per head. Just tell them you will go to Nongkhai. A lot of van service in different destination. Tell them Nongkhai. Inform the driver as well tjat you will go to Nongkhai Immigration. The van will stop in front of the Immigration Division. So convenient.

I flew via Nok Air on the same day of my appointment. I catched the first flight at 6am. I arrived the embassy 5 minutes before 9am. My number was 70. 6am is the earliest ( first flight ) to Udon. Nok Air or Air Asia.
