How is the appointment system at the Vientiane Consular for visa collection, and what happens if you miss the pickup date?

Vientiane Consular

With the appointment numbers are they calling people up in order or is it first come first serve? The online appointment says #77.

Secondly, does anybody know what happens if you cannot pick up your passport the following working day?

Cheers

TLDR : Answer Summary
At the Vientiane Consular, the appointment system for visas seems ambiguous, as experiences vary; some report that during passport pickup, individuals are generally called in numerical order, but there are no strict controls on application submission times. It's noted that entry might be more first come first serve on application days. If a person cannot pick up their passport on the designated date, they may risk having their visa canceled, requiring them to restart the application process.

And as this can go on and on. One person mention no number control at application, other mentioned yes there is. Than no number control on pick up passport and the other mention yes there is. So be prepared, it could be you can enter the premises and stand in unknown line to apply for the visa and pick up your passport the next day. Or all go organized by using the numbers given out. It seems it depends on the mood of the day.

Picked up yesterday. It was roughly in numerical order according to queue number, they called lot 1-20 at a time. The drop-off day however, was a bit of a mess (as long as you had an appointment you got in) and getting through the gate was a crowd crush. Anyone willing to force their way through did so. 😕

I was there just before it opened, so like 8:45 yesterday, the process is very quick, it’s just waiting for your number to get called ( well yesterday they called 1-140 and then 140-150 etc.

Today was in batches of 20

what time you get there to hand in passport and documents?

I’m here now. When they open the gate and let people in, the guards will check if you’re in the numberlist. Then they let you in and wait in line. There was no calling of numbers so people just fall in line whenever they want, regardless of your queue number.

I don’t see why the need to have a queue number when they don’t actually entertain people in sequence. But it’s a first come first serve basis still.

yesterday when I applied they wouldn’t let us through the gate without showing our number and then for the screening and handing in forms we had to line in numerical order too.

You’re lucky though! I was one of the first there and had to wait my turn

Maybe they only follow the number on the day you collect the passport. Cos today, I just handed them my passport. Let’s see tomorrow when I get mine.

I went yesterday to apply and went to collect today and they had us go in numerical order. One girl even pleaded to go sooner as her flight was not too long after they opened and they wouldn’t let her.

thanx for the information.

they didn’t. As long as the guard let you in, you fall in line. My number is 98 but I got served maybe at the first 20. So it wasn’t bad at all. But I wished they had people queue up according to their number so it would be fair. But it is what it is. I’m not complaining. 🙂

wow, when they first rolled it out they made people queue up according to their number :/ Sorry for the bad information :(

IF you miss the pick up date they cancel the visa in your passport and you start all over..
