A recent post regarding what number to put on arrival card - Visa or reentry permit. Tod has often said that its possible to get two years out of a one year O-A Visa. Just before the end of year one leave the country, come back and get stamped in for another year. During that second year you would need to buy a reentry permit if you want to leave. My question. During that second year are you still on Visa (which I believe expired) or extension of stay (which you did not purchase) or?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the status of a foreigner who is using a one-year O-A Visa in Thailand. After leaving the country just before the first year ends and reentering, the question arises about whether the individual is considered to still hold a Visa, an extension of stay, or some other status during the second year.
