What should I know about using an agent for a border run from Kanchanaburi, Thailand?

Need to do my first ever border-run at the end of the month.

Because of my location (Kanchanaburi) being about as far from a suitable border as can be, am considering using an agent, instead of undertaking the trip myself. If that's possible.

Do agents perform that for people?

If so, what's the likely cost and procedure?

How do I find a trustworthy agent?

Anything else I should be aware of?

Experienced help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you're planning a border run from Kanchanaburi, consider your travel options carefully. Many suggest using an agent due to the distance from nearby borders, but it’s important to ensure the agent is trustworthy to avoid risk with your passport. Alternatively, flying from Bangkok to nearby countries like Kuala Lumpur or Penang makes for a quicker trip. Some recommend a weekend getaway to a nearby country like Laos or Vietnam, especially if you possess a passport that allows visa-free entry. Be wary of the legality of agent services, as they can sometimes lead to complications. If you decide on an agent, look for local recommendations or reviews. Overall, understanding the visa policies of your destination and considering a budget airline for short trips could streamline your border run experience.

Go on Google flights enter BK and look at the map. It will then show you the cheapest flights one way or return.

Take a 3 days holiday in Pattaya, enjoy yourself. One of those days, do a border bounce at the Cambodia border (8 hours round trip).

I would bus to Mochit bus terminal and short taxi ride to Don Meuang airport..

Grab a cheap budget airline flight to a somewhere like KL.

If you have a British passport then HCMC Vietnam is a another option as on a British passport you don't need a visa for Vietnam (45 days on arrival)

Kuala Lumpur Malaysia..

Depending on your passport no visa required for Malaysia..

Cambodia and Loas would require a visa

@Baz ********
isn't Cambodia same as Thailand stamp in for 30 days on arrival ?
Baz *********
@Ivan ********
Depends on your passport country but most require a visa but these can be obtained on arrival or before you travel via Email through the Cambodia government visa website..

UK passport do require a visa for Cambodia..

$30 US dollars

You can get this on arrival but it will slow down the entry processing because you have get the visa from a separate immigration counter first before you proceed to the actual immigration officers for border entry processing.

Sometimes visa on arrival can get busy so you may have to line up with many other people to get your visa.

It's easier to apply online for a eVisa before you travel and then just proceed straight to immigration processing on arrival..

The eVisa is for a single entry up to 30 days entry into Cambodia .

And it's valid for 3 months so you can use it to enter anytime during a 3 month period....

Here is the Cambodia government visa website

There used to be someone at the top end of Thailand that took passports into Laos for new visa’s

But as its years since I’ve been there, they may have stopped now

Besides, getting someone to do it for you, is a dangerous game to be playing

Yeah. Probably right. Used to be commonplace but seems like the nooses are tightening since track and tracing have become digitally easier for the parasites to have performed.

I worry no more about having my passport stolen than I do about losing it. Stuff happens. Life's too short to worry over those things (and also too short for border runs, in my opinion). But I hear what you're saying.

Think about it... it is impossible it is legal. As if any country would allow this. As if your counry would allow this. So that means you are in illegal territory here, that means anything can happen. No matter what answers you get here.

I've been regularly visiting Thailand for a quarter of a century. But first time since the scamdemic. Used to be that guys had their passports collected and returned with the new entry stamps, all the time. Seems that may have changed, though.

“scamdemic”? 😂 millions died because of the pandemic. uneducated people didn’t fare well. republicans are lucky donald epstein tmurp lost to joe biden or else there would be so few of them left to riot.

Kace Jonez I take it "Kace" is actually your middle name (your first being "Basket")?

Open your eyes and you shall see it was overwhelmingly the (so-called) "educated" aka hyper-indoctrinated who most readily succumbed and submitted to the deadly hoax (witness the continent of Africa and America's predominantly African-American communities where take up of the knowingly lethal "C-19 protocols" were lowest).

Indeed, I will readily acknowledge that some (not all) of the most intelligent people I know were fooled whilst some (not all) of the least intelligent either saw through it or at least had the wit to exercise judicious caution.

When conducting their population purges it is always the supposed "intelligentsia" (those considered "educated") who are primary victims (see who the French, Russian, Chinese and Cambodian revolutionaries selected for early dispatch).

But I shall end by saying that which I recently said to another fool here, Bonnie Spoales equally applies to you (here's a picture of it as I assume you like pictures):

Bonnie Spoales Oh, PLEASE tell us you're fully jabbed and "boosted". The human gene pool could use a good clean up and a clear out and you're clearly the perfect specimen for such a self-sacrificial example of Natural Selection. You can console yourself knowing that you, otherwise both needlessly and senselessly, laid down your life "for the greater good".

Laos is your best option from where you are. Catch the train from Bangkok, explore another beautiful country for a day or 2 and comeback and get another 60 days

Fly bkk to kl or penang. Turn it into a quick holiday. You will get 60 days immediately on return.

Given it's your first ever flying in and out be a good idea .. Kuala Lumpur is good since you only get a small stamp rather than a disgusting full page consuming sticker..

no minimum time. But you have to stamp into the country (cross passport control) before returning to Thailand.

Pu nam Ron still open . It's 60 miles from you. Prob only 15 days if uou have no visa. Get bus to hua hin get an education visa..

Your information is about 2 years outdated since no land borders with Myanmar have been open to foreigners since Covid, and they remain closed.

And what you say about 15 days is at least 5 years outdated, as the border you choose has no effect on how many days you receive.

Burma has one boarder open. Kawthoung. You get a speedboat or long tail from Ranong. You are given 20 mins in Burma and back to Thailand. Needs to be arranged through an agent. The idea of flying I think is best for you.
Brandon ************
@Clare *****************
that's not a land border. As you just said it requires a boat. It's also very far from the op

for less than a month. Not worth mentioning. And that one isn't that inconvenient since Chiang Khong is only an extra hour or so away.
Steve *******
I'd much rather turn it into a weekend trip to another SE Asian country, so you get your stamp but also a small vacation 👌
Brandon ************
As you say, that's about the worst place to be for a border bounce because it's not near any land borders that you can use. Why not just go to Bangkok and take a quick flight out and back in the same day? Generally you will want to aim to go to a country that you have visa exempt entry for and don't have to buy a visa on arrival. It depends on your passport which countries that would be.

Otherwise you're in for a very long day stuffed into a mini-bus van as they drive you to a border, get you stamped out and back in, and then drive you back. That's how land border bounce agencies work.
