What should I know about applying for the DTV 5-year Muay Thai visa in Thailand?

Hi all,

UK, 30s, looking at the DTV 5-year Muay Thai visa and had a few quick questions:

1) I meet the 500k THB requirement but it’s split across a couple of investment accounts.

Do they accept multiple statements or is it safer to move it all into one bank account first?

2) Best place to apply if I’m currently in Thailand?

Happy to fly anywhere but want to keep costs down.

3) Roughly how long is processing taking at the moment?

Also — I’ve got another account with 500k but the money comes from betting exchange trading.

I’m guessing it’s best not to mention that on the application given Thailand’s stance on gambling?

Thanks in advance !

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK expat in his 30s is inquiring about the DTV 5-year Muay Thai visa, specifically asking about splitting his 500k THB funds across multiple investment accounts, the best locations to apply while in Thailand, and current processing times. Responses indicate that while having multiple accounts is generally acceptable, it's advisable to consolidate into a single, easily accessible personal account for the application. The visa must be applied for outside Thailand, with Vietnam, Laos, or Indonesia suggested as viable locations. Processing times can vary, with some reporting as fast as 2 days.

Just got my.muay thai dtv approved. You have to do it outside. I recommend chilling in Da Nang and applying online through the Hanoi embassy. Took 2 days for a response and I just gave them the extra documents they asked for. Took a few hours after and it was accepted

Seriously how many of those holding DTV (soft power) actually attend classes......Or just want to stay in thailand long term BUT does not qualify in most of the long term visas.....

Multiple accounts are no prob. Having one speeds up the approval process a bit. Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia are nearby, great options to apply. Takes around 10 busines days can be quicker though.

The embassy doesn’t care about your financial gymnastics they want to see the money in 1 acct that’s easily accessible for funds

Do it wrong and you just donated ฿10k

Good luck

1/ Funds must be in your personal account with instant access. Investment funds are not normally accepted. although it can be in more than one account. 2/ You cannot apply from within Thailand 3/ I applied in the UK and it took 21 days
