TLDR : Answer Summary
The post seeks assistance in writing a successful invitation letter for a partner to visit the UK, asking for proofreading help from those experienced in the process. The comments provide insights into what to include in the letter, such as proof of return intentions from Thailand (like employment letters and property ownership), the need for personal financial assurance, and tips on enhancing the application with supporting documents and photographs of the residence.

I have done it a few times. Successfully.

If your letter simply states purpose and duration of visit, your relationship, address you will stay, that you will be responsible for all costs and expenses, that she has full medical insurance and that you will undertake that she will return on the specified date, stating your own passport details and UK address,.

This is enough. The UK just wants to ensure no access to public purse and that she will not work.

I usually also include my own proof of income or assets, as proof you have the means to dp what you undertake

We never had a problem. There was an interview at the Immigration on first entry, but no problem and we had single entry visas and now a 5 year multiple entry. C

Along with the invertation letter, add photos of your family home where your wife will be staying, inside and out, ie bedroom, living room ,and garden it all helps, but like others have said ,you must send proof of a reason for her to return, ie land ownership, money in the bank ,children if any, if you know anyone who owns a big business ask them for a letter stating she has a good job to go back to. Lots of hoops to jump through. Good luck

wow what a lecture 👏

i think it was more useful advice basrd on experience, than taking photos of the bed and the garden. But you are obviously the guru, so I just delete, and go and do something useful.

when we did this application several times the "proof of reasons to return" were separate documents, and not part of the letter of support. We provided her employment details, actually proof of business ownership, evidence of her financial assets (bank statements etc).

It is a fine line between providing enough information to support the application, and looking like you are pleading a defence for something you are not going to do. The UK visa processing, is in my experience, less subjective than some other countries we can think of. It really is a tick list of documents and actually discourged to provide things they don't ask for, imo.

Letter of support or invitation needs only the things I mentioned, and the subject for assessment is actually the invitees own status and independent financial standing. Like you say, proof permanent employment in Thailand is
****
th of the way.

Good luck to all those honest couples that try and deserve approvals without challenge.

My "proof" of my wife returning to Thailand was mainly my lifestyle choice where I spend 3 months in the UK then 3 months in Thailand (UK visitor visa)

thanks for that, a lot of good points, she lost her only son when he was 1 month old in a car accident in Pataya 8 years ago, the only photo she has of the little poor soul is a photo of him deceased in his mother's arms, is it worth including that photo in the application or not.

@Damian *******
sorry to hear that, but that wouldn't help,
Neil ********
I can do this for you. I am British but the letter is easy to do

Hi
@Ne**
, going by a lot of people there a lot of things to include in the letter to help it get approved, the more proof you have, the better and going by most people, the main talking point is proving that she has a genuine reason for returning home after the holiday, cheers mate 👍🏽

@Damian *******

I tried from Bahrain and it was rejected, for only 1 week.

We were told Thailand applications are better approved.

Good luck.

Approved from who
@Ash***
? I will be sending my letter to my gf and she makes the application from Thailand, do I have to make an application from the uk as well? Cheers mate
Graham ******
@Damian *******
The application is done on line so when the account is set up both you and her can upload the required supporting documents to the application. When I did one for my wife I created one "invitation" letter and addressed all of the requirements from the application website with references to the uploaded document(s) which related to each as proof that the requirement was met/covered. Check your inbox.

@Dam***
, no, she has to apply from Thailand, but she will need a letter from you and the family asking for her visa to be given, so she uses that as a supporting document.

The b@stards in Bahrain refused the visa for my wife, we told them I would pay for all, but they said it did not matter and not support her application.

100% yes thats what we are doing, I have my letter almost finished but need to get it off ASAP as she wants to be here for Christmas,
Ashley **********
@Dam***
, good luck.

The thing that really annoyed me was that the people tmaking a decision about my wife's visa application were Indian.

really?? Seems a bit unfair that does

The critical thing is to show real evidence that she will return to Thailand. A credible employer letter making it clear she must return after her 'holiday', and/or birth cert of her child(ren), and/or copy chanote of property she owns. Without those your invitation letter is immaterial, imo.
Bob **********
Bottom line if she doesn’t return it’s on you

totally agree

I never thought of any of those
@Ste****
, thanks for that mate 👍🏽

@Stephen *******
also some money in her bank

@Bob *********
yes, thats covered but unsure about how much is better, I read where it was said 20,000bht was ok but someotold my gf she needed to show 100,000bht so I'm not 100% sure how much to put in.

@Damian *******
i had my gf over a few times. The main thing is to prove funds, at least £150 for everyday that she is there and an itiniery. Showing places you two will visit price of hotel, food roughly we just put 50 per day for food hotel price per night and entrance fees for places, she needs letter from her manager at work to show she is going to return home payslips for last 6 months if i remember correctly proof she has her own property contract for rental or book for home dont over think just coach her on what they may ask her why does she want to visit? She is going to visit her boyfriend, she will stay with you and that she has an interest in the history of england, wants to experience a different culture and that she will be visiting places with you. M me i can give you an itiniery to show you your side but the main thing is the bank statements, proof of home and enough money to cover her trip, letter from her manager just saying she has leave to go to uk between x and y dates

@Alan *********
Job is not that important as you think. Anyone can quit a job. Even a child at home isn't important because Thais are known to leave their kids with grandma to work in the city. A house is probably the most important thing.
Alan **********
@Daren *******
Im not gonna argue Im just stating what information we provided and were successful everytime shes been over 4 times
Daren ********
@Alan *********
Sorry if you took it as arguing. I was just stating what I have been through in the states and what my lawyer told me.
Alan **********
@Daren *******
i also did a lot of research on the .gov.uk website for people visiting the uk and relied on information straight from the horses mouth
Alan **********
Alan **********
@Daren *******
misunderstanding just that hes asking for uk and im from the uk. I just thought I would give input as I have successfully had my partner over 4 tomes thats all no offence
Daren ********
@Alan *********
You are lucky to have been able to bring her there.
Bob **********
@Damian *******
I would think a bit more than that maybe 500k
Damian ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Bob *********
I don't think it would be 500k you need that amount for an immigration visa into Thailand, I wouldn't think you need to show that to support yourself for a few weeks in the UK, I could be wrong though.
Bob **********
@Damian *******
you sponsor her the money is her reason to return
Stephen ********
@Bob *********
hmm. When In UK she can authorise a transfer there. Not sure they will see that therefore as a reason to return, but just show funding for her time in UKand/or or Damians financial sponsorship of her trip backed by uk bank statements. Worked for us
Daren ********
@Stephen *******
UK must be easier than the US
Bob **********
@Stephen *******
not from a Thai bank she can’t not from there
Stephen ********
@Bob *********
I use my bkk bank debit card outside Thailand with no problem
Bob **********
@Stephen *******
your not transferring 500k
Stephen ********
@Bob *********
wow. Maybe things have changed but when I did it 20k was enough and they were laser focussed on reasons she had to return
Damian ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Stephen *******
how long ago was that? And they are still laser focused on making sure she returns home again
Stephen ********
@Damian *******
a few years Damian so Bob may be right but it seems a lot to me
Bob **********
@Stephen *******
I’m not 100% but that would be enough for a Thai to return plus a lot has to do with her employment
Daren ********
@Bob *********
Employment is important but not the top thing. A house is probably more important. My Thai wife has a child there and the attorneys said she most likely wouldn't get in. This was before we were married. Property seemed to be the most important. She had land but it wasn't enough.
