UPDATE:

I received the e-Visa just 3 hours after submitting the Invitation Letter. Had my wife write/sign/date, included copy of her Thai ID and pages from family house book.

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!

Re: Non-O e-Visa, I received an email from the Los Angeles embassy requesting an Invitation Letter from Immediate Family.

I searched the group for “invitation letter”, and while I found helpful posts, none I found seem to match my situation.

My wife has been living with me in the USA for 10 years, and now we are moving to Koh Samui. We will be renting at first, but do not yet have an address. Her family is in Khong Chiam (Ubon).

Any suggestions on how to write the letter? From my wife and hotel or friend’s address? From family in Ubon and their address?

Thanks, this group has been a tremendous help to me thus far.

Just use your wife's family residence...'I (wife's name and ID card number) will be sponsoring my husband (name) at my family's residence at (address) during his stay in Thailand (Include dates to align with 90 day visa). She signs, dates and includes her contact phone in US. Doesn't need to be in Thai, English is fine.

Thanks, maybe this will better than asking the family to do it.

yes, it will be better. Most Thai people will be either embarrassed or afraid and therefore cannot help.

If you book a hotel with a confirmed hotel booking you don’t need an invitation, but sometimes if you give a private address for accommodation they will have a verification from the owner that you can stay at the actual address. So just asks them to write a letter confirming this with their telephone number.

You apply for a visa based on being married to your Thai wife for ten years and you will be travelling with her. I would ask my in-laws to confirm that you, as their son-in-law, came with their daughter to stay with them at their address in Ubon. (In the first place).
