TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is concerned about the expiration of their Volunteer visa in Thailand and whether they will automatically fall into amnesty or need to take action. It was clarified that there is no amnesty available; if the visa expires, the individual will be considered in overstay from the following day. Currently, there is an extension available for those unable to travel due to COVID-19 for a fee, which lasts for 60 days but is uncertain beyond a specified date. One commenter confirmed they successfully dealt with immigration.
word of advice as moderator i know for a fact there are immigration officers as members of this group of all levels you may consider editing or deleting tbat reply
There is no amnesty. If your visa expires you will be on overstay from the day after. At the moment they are selling the “unable to travel due to Covid” extension for 1,900 baht that is good for 60 days. Usually they give you a “under consideration”stamp for 15 days then you go back and get the remaining days stamped. Currently this option expires on May 30th. No one knows if it will be extended beyond this date.
whilst no one can say for sure, if borders remain closed they probably will extend the option as there are many foreigners here on what would normally be year long 90 day multiple entry visas that would “bounce” out of the country to get a new 90 stamp. Obviously that isn’t possible these days.
