What should I do if my Non-Immigrant O/A visa application is pending and my flight to Thailand is approaching?

Hi all, I am in Australia and have applied for a non immigrant O/A visa on the 9th of September. My flight to thailand is booked for the 15th of October.

According to the e visa portal where I have to apply for the visa, the visa is the pending due to douments check.

Time is getting short now and I have not recieved any informatoin since.

There are no contact details at all on the visa portal to see what the actual hold up is.

I emailed the consulate directly and still have not recieved any type of response yet.

Is this normal?

Im starting to worry  now that I have wasted thousands of dollars on airfares, health insurance, ect for nothing.

Can someone offer any advice please, or do I jiust have to sit here and suffer in my jocks?

I got a Non O last month. The status went from pending due to document check , back to processing then waiting approval. That was a month in total.I did have to submit extra documents I put off booking a flight until the last minute. I did email Canberra twice but I don't think it made any difference.

Happened to me too mine was approved 24hrs after I arrived in Thailand on a visa free so I went to Singapore over night and activated on my return no issues

If your visa is not approved by 15th October, no problem at all. Since you are Australian, you will get 30 days free visa at thai airport immigration on your arrival. You can stay in Thailand and while staying in Thailand if your visa is approved, then just leave Thailand to the neighboring countries like Laos Vietnam Malaysia for a day and then re enter Thailand with that approved visa.

You wait it out, The consulates in Oz, especially Canberra are slow and often dont approve your application until just before your travel date See if they have messenger activated in their official Facebook accounts and if they do try to contact them there.

Last time I did mine, I remember it took a long time too, I was smart enough to book a flexible flight, so delayed flying for about 5 days. The visa came through the day before my original flight.

Thanks very much for all your help. ill just leave on the planned date and hope for the best. I had the same visa a few years, when we had to send evrything in by mail and it got approved in about 10 days last time.
