Has anyone ever gotten a name incorrect? I only put in my middle initial instead of full name which the passport has it spelled out. Should I call the NY consulate?
Answer summary
The discussion outlines the consequences of a name mismatch on a visa application for Thailand. It emphasizes that the name on the visa application must match the passport exactly, including full middle names instead of initials. Users advise contacting the NY consulate immediately to clarify the situation, as applications may be canceled due to discrepancies, requiring a new application and payment of the fee again. Helpful tips include double-checking application details to avoid such mistakes.

I think your application will be cancelled. Names must exactly match the passport.
No need to call, they will cancel your application directly and you can apply again. And of course you will have to pay the application fee again. And yes, it happened to others also, many are not able to write their names correctly, so don’t worry, you are not the only one
Yes this happens a lot. Thai embassy is strict about name. What you write on DTV application must match your passport exactly. If your passport shows full middle name and you only wrote initial, it can cause problem at airport or with airline. Better to fix it now before you fly.
You should contact the NY consulate fast by email and phone. Send them your passport page and your application number and explain you wrote initial instead of full middle name. Some consulates can correct it or tell you to apply again. Do not wait until you travel because immigration in Thailand also checks name exactly as in passport.
To avoid this kind of small mistake that can cost a visa, I like the checklist in Unlock Thailand by Isla Rey on Amazon, it reminds you to copy passport name letter by letter. It is a handy guide to double check before you submit.
Errors in the passport information can not be corrected of you nor the Embassy, and will lead to rejection and loss of the 10.000 baht visafee, as it is told explicitly on most embbassy websites.
It MUST matched EXACTLY what you have in the passport. Unfortunately, it is very likely your application will be cancelled automatically and no refund will be issued :-(. One needs to triple check and then triple check again.
yes. Similar happened to me. When I scanned my passport it removed a “- “from my last name so I left it that way. They rejected my application for that and had no option but to apply and pay the fee again….
