I've screwed up and missed my 90-day report. It was due 2 weeks ago.
Should I just wait until my next visa, which is about 9 months away, or drive to immigration and deal with it now?

Did they say that in German or that exact English phrase? Did you ask them for the German name of the documents they want? How do you know it's not the Einkommensteuerbescheid? Did you search for reports from people getting that request and what they actually submitted from Germany? Did you only send the English translation of the Lohnsteuerbescheinigung or the original German too?
They requested it using that exact english phrase and I didn't ask them for the German name but I suspect they are looking for the Einkommensteuerbescheid
However as a regular salaried employee in Germany my taxes are fully settled through payroll withholding. So I was never required to file a year end tax return to get that assessment notice.
My plan now is to submit a formal Letter of Explanation explaining the German tax system alongside the original German Lohnsteuerbescheinigung for 2023-2025 paired with certified English translation
CapableCamel2187 really, your company correctly calculates your Grundfreibetrag and what about Sonderausgaben and Außergewöhnliche Belastungen? I guess that's the difference with freelancers. Well since you didn't file and don't have anything else I guess your explanation to them that the lohnsteuerbescheinigung is the certificate they are looking for is your only option.
Thank you for the information Olia. Yes I'm really worried about the rejection too. The 6 month timeline for the official certificate is impossible for my application.
I'm thinking about writing a Letter of Explanation, but I'm not sure if the embassy will accept it.
CapableCamel2187 I got rejected twice. So I was seeking help. I needed a guarantee of positive visa. So I ordered from them the service. I got my visa in a month.
