TLDR : Answer Summary
Users have reported experiencing 'payment failed' messages for various reasons. Suggested solutions include trying a different web browser, disabling VPNs, ensuring a travel notice is set up for the payment card, using a laptop instead of mobile devices, and experimenting with different credit cards as some might not be compatible with Thailand's 3D security system.

Also, make sure you have a travel notice set up for the particular card you're using, if it's required.

Not uncommon. Just keep trying different cards to pay until one works. Many cards are not compatible with the 3D security that Thailand uses.
