TLDR : Answer Summary
If your friend does not receive his Thai tourist visa in time, he can enter Thailand using Visa Exempt Entry, which allows for a 30-day stay. This can be extended for an additional 30 days at a local immigration office. If he eventually receives the e-visa, he can do a border run to have it stamped into his passport for a longer stay. It is advisable for him to have proof of accommodation and around 20,000 Thai Baht in cash upon arrival.

This question has been ASKED many times by other members in recent weeks.

IF your friend has not received the online Evisa email for the Thai Tourist Visa , he can enter Thailand as Visa Exempt Entry...

Will get 30 days stamp on arrival.

PLUS that can be extended 30 days , one time, at the local Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

When he has received the Email with the Thai Tourist Evisa... PRINT OUT THE EVISA... Do a simple land BORDER BOUNCE to leave Thailand and reenter Thailand showing the Thai Immigration Officers the proof of your Tourist Visa.

You will be stamped in for 60 days and that can be extended One time for 30 days.

When he arrives into Thailand using the Visa Exempt Entry...he should have the address of where he will be staying for a few days...

And the equivalent of 20,000 Thai Baht in CASH or his nations equivalent currency.

it sounds like Qatar Airways requires the proof of flight departing Thailand within the 30 days of arrival.

I came on Qatar frim Manchester and no proof of onward flight required although there is a box to tick ssying you have all the required visa and associated stipulations covered. I did actually have a cheapo flight to Vietnam booked which i didnt use.

He can enter without a visa which will give him 30 days and he can extend that for a further 30 days at his local immigration office

I believe that the OP has the answers needed for his question.

We wish him safe travels ✈️

And enjoy Thailand ☀️

Qatar from the UK are known to be strict on onward travel and that's my experience too. Google onward travel to temporarily book a flight out of Thailand within 30 days of arrival.

Yes ..as his airline has said he must show proof of a flight ✈️ departing Thailand within the 30 days stamp he gets on arrival into Thailand.

There's cheap One way flights to Phnom Penh from Don Mueang airport in Bangkok.
