TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is considering moving to Thailand and is seeking job opportunities related to languages, art, or graphic design, while also inquiring about a language study visa. Comments highlight challenges in finding work due to job protection laws for Thai nationals and emphasize the need for a company to sponsor a work permit.

The Thai Embassy in your country has the list of protected jobs. Work permits, for the approved occupations, are issued to the employer, not the employee. So, you first have to find a company that will apply for a work permit for you. Thailand is a very hard country to work in.

thank you!! ๐Ÿ™ you actually helped me, not like others that instead of helping they were questioning why my friend got a model visa ๐Ÿ˜‚

Sounds very suspicious and you will.not have much luck trying to find work. Surely you realise nearly all jobs are protected for thai people only?

non Thais are employed in all sorts of capacities all across the country. In fact, I am always surprised when I see the variety of jobs that foreigners are working in this country. So, while a lot of jobs are indeed protected and reserved for Thais, there are plenty of opportunities for people with the right skill. Also, with some capital and a good Thai business partner, one can open a business..

there is currently.a large number of these foreigners being prosecuted for working illegally.

yea, I would have guessed that a lot of these people were doing so illegally. It just often seems to good to be true. So many of these people claim that they are able to find a way around these well established rules and some how for them, its "different"...I also have no idea how agencies are supposedly able to secure B visas and WPs without someone having a job first, as the a work permit doesnt allow you to look for a job, but is issued AFTER you get employment. It's not my issue of course, but I wouldn't be caught dead working here without the right paperwork.

yes there is a whole industry based around circumventing Thai law in this area as well as property ownership. Eventually the whole house of cards will come crashing down.

sure for those with experience and local knowledge. Finding trusted Thai business partners takes years. I have worked in real estate in Thailand and lived here quite a long time. Have seen a constant stream of people like this and maybe 1% of them are able to find a suitable job.

Im always surprised at how many people seem to come in an a whim and end up with these kind of jobs, but then the again, the other 99 that I dont see, fail. Real estate seems to the be the job that I have never understood non Thais being involved in, given that non Thais cannot own property, so unless someone is selling condos to expats in Pattaya, I never really got how that worked out, I am just saying this because I am interested in how that works, not doubting you.
