What options do I have for extending my stay in Thailand after the initial 75 days on a Canadian passport?

@Todd and others

I'm a new member here, recently got my COE and am set to enter Thailand on March 29th as Visa Exempt on a Canadian passport.

Besides the 45 day + 30 day standard extension for 1900 BHT, what are the other options I have for an extended duration of stay? (Considering the government doesn't extend the 60 day Covid Amnesty thing past end of March?)

TLDR : Answer Summary
A new arrival on a Canadian passport, who has recently obtained a Certificate of Entry (COE), is seeking alternatives to extend their stay in Thailand beyond the standard 75 days (45 days + 30-day extension) permitted under current visa exemption rules. The responses suggest looking into various visa types suitable for different purposes, such as the Non-O Visa for retirees, employment in teaching, enrolling in language schools for an Education Visa, or considering the Thai Elite Visa for longer stays. It is also noted that the current COVID-related extensions may not be prolonged past the end of March, which adds an element of uncertainty.

It’s your responsibility to figure out which one is best, and which one you qualify for based on your income, savings, and your age.

Your options would depend on your purpose to stay in Thailand.. As a short term tourist, there isn't any option other than one normal 30days extension.

With your post I assume you are not Married to Thai or Father of a Thai child.

If you are age 50+ obtain the Non O for retirees.

As a keyboard warrior, writer and English speaking Canadian, seek a job as a teacher.

To learn Thai enroll in a legitimate Thai language school for an Ed Visa.

Obtain the Thai Elite Visa which will allow you 5 years stay....600,000 Thai baht. Ideal for those younger than age 50.

The COVID extensions may or may not be extended. Watch for news at end of March.

But as you are arriving late in the month with 45+30=75 days allowed stay...its unknown what will be in May/June.

And as this post can lead to many crystal ball readings, I suggest you post on the stranded group you have been using.

We wish you Good Luck and stay safe in Thailand.

Is it not 30 days for visa exemption and 30 days for the extension. 60 in total?
Ellie *******
currently, visa exempt entry gives you 45days stamp (15days extra compensate ASQ) plus normal 30days extension.

@Laura ********
sorry...its now 45 visa exempt on arrival due to COVID. +30 extension = 75 days max.
