Answer summary
An expat aged 55 with no pre-existing health issues seeks advice on the recommended maximum coverage for Thai health insurance, ideally under £100 per month. Responses vary, with some suggesting specific insurers like AIA, Pacific Cross, and Bcare Brokers, while others warn against low-cost plans that may not offer adequate coverage for major health procedures. General sentiments highlight the importance of shopping around for the best options and considering a more realistic budget for comprehensive health coverage.

I pay 88k Baht a year for 5 million cover inpatient extra cancer no limit and 200k life insurance. By the AIA Thailand. I'm 66.

My thought is that many companies offer cheap rates, but they are not great at paying out. Also, the benefit amounts are small and won't cover a majorly procedure .

Insurance business model is about getting your money and paying out as little as possible. Public health care is ok in Thailand tbh. Don't stay in Thailand unless you have funds to pay for medical bills! Self insuring is the way to go.

Thai health insurance is useless. All those AIA plans are useless for foreigners. All you will get "free" will be a outpatient visit and some meds if their budget covers it.Farang mug is completely clueless how health insurance works in Thailand. Most working Thais have health insurance bundled with life insurance and pay it for decades for private hospitals. (NOT ss insurance and 30b hospitals). Tou think your 35k AIA insurance will cover you

I suggest Bcare Brokers with offices all over Thailand. My broker is Max at the Phuket office. he represents many insurance companies and is well versed in foreigner needs. He can point you in the right direction. I ultimately went with Pacific Cross.

Charoen Krung they do, I've had an accident. The bill was 180k for two nights, I paid 30k and AIA 150k. Not even one year with them, and it would be fully covered if certain well known hospital didn't scam me with so many 'doctor visits' who just ask if I'm okay - the only thing that has limitations

I pay 24k a year

Look at the AIA Health Happy plans. Various coverage bands available from 1 to 25 million baht, it will at least give you an idea of the type of cover available. The 1 million baht plan is probably something around 35k baht per annum at your age and the 25 million baht plan around 75k baht per annum

You won't get anything meaningful for £100 a month.

Try £500 to £1000 a month
