Looking for advice on single entry non-immigrant b visa. Anyone recently gotten from either Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. Any issues & how long did it take? Prefer to go to either KL or Singapore as direct flights from samui. Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of obtaining a single entry non-immigrant B visa varies slightly between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. In Singapore, applicants can apply online and must visit the Embassy to submit hard copies after receiving an approval email, typically collecting the visa the following day. In Kuala Lumpur, an appointment is required to submit the application and documents, with pickup also the next day. Additional documentation, like a cover letter with a company stamp, is needed for Singapore, but not for Kuala Lumpur.
Both are no nonsense place but not difficult as long as you have right documents. You need cover letter with company stamp if you want to apply at Singapore, which you don't need at KL.
Singapore has a on line application, you apply, when approved you get an e-mail, visit the Embassy to hand in your hard copies and pick up the visa the next working day.
Kuala Lumpur, you make an appointment, print out the check list and application form, hand that to over and when all correct you pick it the next working day, but you also need to make appointment for picking up.
