Happy to share my experience applying for the DTV visa in Kathmandu, Nepal π³π΅
Category: Soft Power DTV β medical treatment (physical therapy and post-surgery rehabilitation).
First of all, Iβd like to thank everyone in this group for sharing your experiences, advice, and updates. Reading your posts was incredibly helpful during my application process. Special thanks as well to ChatGPT for helping me organize, check, and convert all my documents into PDFs π
My timeline:
π 1 May β Documents submitted
π 5 May β Payment completed (yes, it took longer because of weekends... and my birthday celebration π)
π 7 May β Request for additional documents
π 11 May β Submitted additional documents (I had to wait quite a while for a hospital letter, plus there were weekends)
π 11 May β Another request: additional document required (visa stamp)
π 13 May β Invitation for an interview on 15 May. I called the Embassy and requested to reschedule it to 18 May because I was in Pokhara
π 18 May β Interview completed
π Same evening β Visa approved β
If I had been faster with preparing the additional documents and hadnβt rescheduled the interview, the entire process could probably have taken only 7β8 days.
A few words about Nepal: itβs a wonderful country β authentic, affordable (around 30β40% cheaper than Thailand), with plenty of local experiences and excursions, especially hiking and trekking. The food is great, and the weather is pleasant. Outside Kathmandu the air feels very fresh, although the capital itself can be quite dusty.
And Pokhara is a hidden gem β a cozy, slow-paced city with beautiful life around a picturesque lake. Highly recommended.
