What is the process and experience of applying for DTVs in Laos, particularly from Luang Prabang, and how does the payment system work with the Thai embassy?

Any reports on DTV applications in Laos since they went online there? Considering Luang Prabang to apply for spouse/dependent DTVs as it is the easiest option to get to with our young baby. Also wondering how the payment system works as apparently online payment is not possible at present - would it be possible to get someone else to go and pay at the Thai embassy in Vientiane without physically going their ourselves? Any experience/info appreciated. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on applying for Spouse/Dependent DTVs online from Laos, specifically from Luang Prabang. Participants emphasize that the visa application must be submitted online, followed by a visit to the Thai embassy in Vientiane or Savannakhet for payment. It is clarified that another individual can pay on behalf of the applicant, alleviating the need for personal presence.

this is on the Vientiane website under "apply for visa"

You have to apply online THEN you have to go to the consulate (Savannakhet or Vientiane) and pay for the DTV. They said on the update about the eVisa program that someone else can pay for you

Put it together now and hit submit when you arrive. You will first need to upload your Cambodia entry stamp though

you are correct, they would still upload their visa sticker and entry stamp no matter what country they went to in S/E Asia to apply
