TLDR : Answer Summary
The current situation regarding retirement visas (Non-OA or OX) is challenging, especially for applicants from the US. Non-OA and OX visa holders can apply for a certificate of entry, but Non-O visa holders currently cannot. Many applicants express frustration with the approval process, which has become opaque, leading to anxiety and confusion about their applications. While some suggest considering other countries like Mexico, others report success through the LA consulate for Thai visa applications.

  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

The thing that made me so upset is they let you you go ahead and fill out all the paperwork and send it in then you get notifications that makes you think that you're going to get approved and they're working on your paperwork and then at the 7-Day Mark it just all disappeared and you never hear anything..

If you are in the US is not going to happen.. Don't waste time you are only going to get heartbreak.. Embassy doesn't even notify you are approved they just close paperwork after 7 days and you are done.. We had everything in order, they didn't even bother to tell us that they are not approving any tourist visas or retirement visas.. Thankful we hadn't sent any money yet..

there are people who have applied via the New York consulate to get a Non OA visa. Non O based on retirement or tourist visas are not being issued because you can’t enter Thailand on one of those as yet.

Non OA or OX visa holders are allowed to apply for certificate of entry. Non O visa holders are not as yet. No indication when they will be so far.

That is not true. There are people here now that have gone through the process of getting the visa and all the other hoops. It’s not easy but it is possible.

. I don't think non-O retirement visas will be added. People have to apply for the OA or OX.

I have no idea if or when they will be. In terms of financial gain for Thailand it seems this is a large group of people who want to spend a long time in the country, many who have property here and will spend money. Now that there are many more ASQ hotel rooms available I can’t see why they won’t let them in.

I think they are more interested in people that will help the tourist and hotel industry. People that already own a property are not really going to help in that area

Granted. They probably won’t spend much on hotels, but there’s so many other industries hurting just as much. Local restaurants, tour companies or just retail shops. This group of people have spending power that probably far exceeds what “tourists” would spend.

. I assume you are outside of Thailand? I think your O visa would have expired?

that would depend on your local embassy/consulate. You need to check with them. I read reports of some people doing it and others who said they need to wait till their valid visa expires.
