TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non-Immigrant O-A retirement visa is currently available for entry into Thailand, but applicants must meet specific requirements including financial stability and age. Additionally, there are extra COVID-19 entry regulations, such as having $100,000 in insurance, a fit-to-fly certificate, negative COVID-19 test results, and a booking for a 14-day quarantine. It's recommended to contact your local Thai embassy for detailed entry and visa application procedures.

I'm going to shut this post down. Different Thai embassies have different processes to get a visa. You can find a listing of the various consulates and embassies at

Contact your local Thai consulate and ask for their specific requirements to get a visa or for entry.

There are also some Facebook groups out there for people who are stranded overseas.

The O-A and O-X long stay visas were recently added to the list of people who can legally request entry to thailand. In addtion to meeting the requirements for the O-A or O-X visa you still need to have the 100K USD covid insurance, a certificate to enter, a fit to fly from a doctor, a negative covid test within 72 hours of your flight, book a 14 day quarantine at an approved facility here and use a repatriation flight to get back in (can't fly commercial from most places)

Contact the embassy in the country you're in now to see how you go about applying for permission to enter and getting the visa.

I understand yes, you will need both the 100K THB COVID-19 insurance, and regular health insurance; however your local Thai consulate will be the best place to ask.

Please go to

, find your consulate, and contact them directly

actually with planning the CoE required health insurance exceeds the OA health policy limits...so should need just the CoE policy to obtain the OA OX first year.

Need to coordinate with insurer.

But may be possible.

at this time it does NOT look like Non-O visa/extensions based on retirement are on the list of people who can apply to return. Contact the embassy in the country you're in to see. Keep in mind it was only since the 29th that O-A and O-X visa types were allowed to apply for entry so every consulate might not know
