TLDR : Answer Summary
The estimated monthly budget for living as a volunteer in Chiang Mai is around 30,000 THB. This includes accommodation costs of approximately 8,000 THB, meals at local vendors costing around 40 THB each, and additional expenses such as healthcare (500 THB for a clinic visit), transportation (used motor scooters around 30,000 THB), and an unlimited mobile internet plan for about 1,000 THB.

>next year as a volunteer.

1. As of right now, volunteer visas are not being issued. However, let's assume they are.

2. Assuming your volunteer organization is *NOT* giving you anything like free housing or food (doubtful, but...).

a. A meal from a street vendor is about 40 THB.

b. Housing is about 8K THB for a single person per month.

c. A motorscooter cost to purchase, used, is about 30K THB. Make sure to have a motorcycle license back home through!

d. Health care is not free in Thailand. Doctors fees are about 500THB at a clinic

e. Internet is cheap, you can get an unlimited mobile plan for about 1K THB.

I would budget, depending on your lifestyle, about 30K THB a month. I'm assuming you don't drink or party from your profile.

There are a few Chiang Mai groups that can probably help with accomadation costs.

Second hand bikes (small CC) anywhere between 5000 and

cost relative to quality.

Can check facebook marketplace.

Eating local food costs 25 baht to 40 baht for a plate or do as Thais do get rice cooker and go out by different bags of ready made food.
