What is the entry deadline for the DTV visa if I apply now, and where should I apply from Singapore?

Hi all, my work in Singapore will likely end in March 2025 and I'm considering applying for DTV. Curious to know if I apply for it now, would there be an "expiry date" or deadline on when I need to enter Thailand with it? I'd like to apply for it early enough to make other plans in the event that it was unsuccessful. I'm holding a Canadian passport. Also, I'm not eligible to apply online through the Thai e-visa system in Singapore, do most people apply at their nearest Thai embassy? Thank you for your help!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV visa is valid for 5 years from the date of issue, allowing entry into Thailand at any time during that period. Applicants should note that some embassies might impose a limit on applying no more than 3 months before the intended travel date. Many individuals recommend applying at the nearest Thai embassy, as the process in Singapore can be complicated.

It’s a 5 year visa. You have until that time to enter Thailand.

Some embassies may not allow applications earlier than 3 months prior to travel date.

The visa is valid for 5 years from date of issue. You can enter Thailand any time during that time. Fir example of yiu had it approved now but did not enter Thailand until you finished up in Singapore in March that is fine. As for embassies Jakarta is getting good reports but is going eVisa after today I think it is. Go to Cambodia, Laos or Vietnam. Taipei is another option. As yiu alludecto the Thai Embassy in Singaoore is a strange one and has been for decades. It was when I worked Singapore. Getting a B Visa for a Work Permit in Thailand is a cinch though.
