TLDR : Answer Summary
Canadians seeking information on the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) process in Thailand share their experiences: Applicants need to apply from outside Thailand, often from the Thai embassy or consulate in Canada. The process can be straightforward if all requirements are met, including proof of finances, employment contracts, and company registration. Many report their applications were approved quickly, generally within days, when documentation was complete and clear. Additional queries regarding specifics of the DTV process were raised in the discussion.

Was in Thailand in October 2024.

Had to go to Hanoi to apply for visa in person at Thai embassy due to not allowed to apply in Thailand.

Soft power for Muay Thai classes route.

All the requirements were met and financials accepted as well.

Easy process, stress free and took exactly 5 days to process and be accepted.

When done correctly and everything they are asking for is up to date and clear it is easy. So many people ask millions of questions and don’t have things in proper order. That is when problems start to occur.

investments and crypto is not an option. Albeit I have heard some stories about people using some kind of investment portfolio but that is just rumour apparently.

If anyone has used that option please feel free to correct me!! πŸ™πŸΌ

I am retiring earlier than 50 years old, we are downsizing our home and going to have roughly 480, 000 Canadian. As well as I will be making $6,500 Canadian a month. The reason I ask is because the large sum of money won't be in our account until we close on our house 1 month before we leave for Thailand. Thanks for the information. Much appreciated

It depends on where you apply as to what you need to show. Check with whoever you will go through for firm details.

I provided 2 separate bank account. Both stamped by my bank(via email) showing each had above the 500K requirement in my account and not touched for the last 6 months.

Some embassies are different. Some want to see it in savings and some want to see it is in liquid account being used and not just sitting there. It’s odd.

I provided both just to be sure.

Monthly statements are fine if you provide them for the last 6 months. OR one page showing savings of the required amount.

Again, I showed both to be safe.

Applied thru Vancouver consulate end of July 2024, remote work as a company owner and dependant. Submitted company's registration, tax return, letter approving remote work, personal bank statement. Main DTV holder was approved in 2 hours. Submitted for dependant with copy of main DTV, marriage license, bank statement approved in less than 24 hours. Joint bank account so balance had to be 1M THB.

No questions on entry in August. Left and came back in October, no questions. Previously here on Non O retirement but had been out of Thailand for a year.
