Hi everyone.

As many of you, I have some questions regarding the visa.

I’m a French passport holder currently living in Bali.

I’d like to stay at least a year in Thailand and be based in the capital city.

However I’m not quite certain with the process as I see so many different things said about this topic.

Would someone enlighten me on the current process where there are not many visa runs included.

And yes, I have read the previous chats but I still enjoy human interaction.

Thank you. 🙏🏽

TLDR : Answer Summary
A French passport holder currently in Bali is seeking advice on obtaining a visa to stay in Thailand for at least a year, particularly in Bangkok, without the need for frequent visa runs. Suggestions include applying for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) outside of Thailand, as this may allow a longer stay without border bounces. It is noted that the DTV application must be made in person at the Thai embassy in Jakarta, as e-visa services may not be available in Bali.

Just do border runs with agent

If you work remotely outside Thailand and would like to stay for a year in Bangkok without doing border bounces, which probably wouldn’t give you a year anyway, your best option might be to apply for a DTV. (Destination Thailand Visa)

You’ll need to apply outside Thailand and most countries except Indonesia do e-visa now. This means you’ll need to show up in person and apply in Jakarta. I don’t think you can apply in Bali.

Bali consulate now only deals in stuff for Thai nationals. They don’t deal with foreigners. Jakarta is the only option for Indonesia.

Visa options vary depending on nationality (you provided that) but also on age. Where you want to stay in Thailand is irrelevant.
