I'm a little out of the loop, can anyone give me an update?

I thought that last year Thailand made a big deal out of announcing that the visa-exempt entry would be reduced from 60 days back down to 30 days. But a bunch of friends of mine have mentioned getting a 60 day visa-exempt entry stamp this year. Not sure what to expect when I come back next month. US-passport holder here, also curious for my German friend coming later this year too.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The recent consensus among travelers indicates that US passport holders and German nationals are currently receiving a 60-day visa-exempt entry stamp upon arrival in Thailand, despite prior announcements suggesting a reduction to 30 days. Recent comments confirm that this 60-day allowance is still in effect, and travelers can also extend their stay for an additional 30 days through local immigration authorities.

NO, Thailand made NEVER a big deal of announcing, it was a load of foreigners who made these announcements as they think they make the rules.

I did hear it from a government source, not from farangs. But of course they often seesaw on decisions like this, that’s why I was asking. Source link below.

Still NO CHANGE...

If eligible ...as you both are...

Visa Exempt Entry gets 60 days STAMP on arrival into Thailand Plus one 30 day extension of stay at your local Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

Nothing has been mentioned on the news for 5 months about this. They have bigger things to worry about. Maybe next year they will say more.
