What is the current “proof of funds” requirement for non-o based on Thai wife? I plan to apply in Vientiane, Laos.

Money has to be seasoned or not? 20-30k or 400k also for that initial non-o application? In some places I saw 20-30k, in others 400k, some told me it has to be seasoned and some not.

Thanks for help.
Answer summary
To apply for a NON-O visa in Vientiane based on your Thai wife, you need to show either 400,000 THB in a bank account in your name or a steady income of at least 40,000 THB per month. For the initial visa application, the funds do not need to be seasoned, but for the one-year extension after arriving in Thailand, the 400,000 THB must have been in your account for at least two months. Additionally, when applying outside Thailand, the funds can be in any foreign bank account.

To get the Type O 90 day visa based on Thai wife in Vientiane you need bt400,000 in a bank account in your name only, or to show that you have a pension, or steady monthly payment of at least bt40,000. After you get to Thailand on that 90 day visa then to apply for your one year extension you must have bt400,000 minimum for at least two months before you apply for the one year extension. You can't use the monthly deposits the first year after you get here. Out of the country, getting the 90 day visa there is no limit on how the bt400,000 has to be in your account.

Kool Breez "or to show that you have a pension, or steady monthly payment of at least bt40,000" . . . . . . . .well, I STRONGLY DOUBT that the Royal Thai Embassy Vientiane allows or accepts original income or pension statements. Theywould need to be notarized or at least co-legalized by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs! He could use original documents ONLY in his home country, but NOWHERE in the rest of the World. For an application to the 90-days Non-Imm-O Family Visa in Vientiane, he has only ONE OPTION: show three months account statements of 400,000 THB minimum in his bank account (anywhere in the World). OR be able to show an U.S. Embassy Vientiane legalized income affidavit (they don't issue either!)

Greg Alexander don't confuse what is needed inside Thailand for the extension with what is allowed for the visa outside of Thailand

400k Thai baht equivalent in an overseas bank and 3 months of statements from that bank.

If you apply outside Thailand it can be any foreign bank account. That excludes wise and revlote and any brokorage accounts that are not banks. Thai banks should work if the account is only in your name and applying online it should be straight forward but it is still Thailand...

I dont understand the use of the word 'seasoned'. Clearly I'm still learning so will watch n learn

Jules Donkin some visa and extension requirements call for the money to be sitting in a bank for a certain amount of time, that is seasoning.
