Hi everyone is the visa on arrival 1000 or 2000 THB? (I am Romanian citizen) I have two versions of the TM.88 (I think they reduced it to 1000 but did it go up to 2000 again?) and the needing proof of adequate funds 10.000 bahts per person does the cash literally need to be in my hands or just show them my bank balance on my Phone? thank you ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The current cost for a visa on arrival in Thailand is generally 2000 THB, although some sources mention a possible requirement of 1000 THB. Romanian citizens must provide proof of funds, which immigration officers usually ask to be 20,000 THB. If asked for proof, it's recommended to show cash rather than just a bank balance on a phone.

The cost of a visa-on-arrival is2000baht. Be advised that people who buy a visa-on-arrival are also often asked for proof of funds, proof of onward travel and proof of a hotel booking. Not having those when you're asked is reason enough to deny you entry.

While the law clearly states that people entering on visa exempt entries OR buying a 15 day visa-on-arrival need to have 10K baht (or the equivalent) most immigration officers are asking for 20K baht.

If you get asked, it will most likely be for 20,000 baht.

We know what the rules are but thanks for pointing it out. Now, if you would be kind enough to point out posts where individuals were asked for 10,000 baht, that would be nice of you.

Other than that, carrying 10,000 baht when you asked to show 20,000 baht, as those are when asked, will likely get you a denial of entry.

For family it's 20 k and individuals 10 k

If you get asked for proof you have to show cash. It doesn't have to be in baht.

I know what I was asked for and what I showed upon entry at Suvarnabhumi.

, you are confused. You cannot show a bank balance when asked for proof of funds when stamping into the country it has to be in cash

For me it was enough to show them my account balance in EUR on my phone. Late December 2016.
